The Navigation Updates Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as “the Policy”) is explained here by Hyundai Motor Group (hereinafter referred to as “the Company") to customers (hereinafter referred to as “the User”) who receive the services provided under the name of Navigation Updates (hereinafter “the Service”) on the use of their information.
Unless there is a specific provision, the terms defined in the terms and conditions will have identical meanings in the Policy unless otherwise defined in the Policy.
1. Concerning the Acquisition of Personal InformationPersonal information is defined as information about a living individual that can be used to identify that individual through what is contained in the information, such as name, date of birth, or other descriptions (including information that can be easily compared to others, allowing identifying one from another), and the specifics are governed by the definition of the Personal Information Protection Act. Information entered into the website or provided by the User through various documents fall into this category. The Company collects personal information in a lawful and fair manner.
2. Information Acquired by the Company
The Company only utilizes the User's personal information for the purposes stated below:
(1) The User's Personal Information
If the User submits an inquiry to the Company, the vehicle information (model name, ship date), email address, inquiry detail (title, content, attached file if applicable, etc.), various settings by the User, data searched by the User, service use by the User, and others;
(2) Data on the User's Electronic Terminal Used to Access the Service, etc.
Identification information for computers, smartphones, tablets, and other information terminal units, IP address, location information, Navigation Updates website access information, Cookie information, etc.
3. Purpose of UseThe Company uses personal information regarding the Service for the following purposes:
(1)
To provide the User with the Service;
(2)
To collect feedback to improve vehicle safety;
(3)
To update and expand the features of S/W related to the Service;
(4)
To optimize the website and application content on the Service, and to improve the User experience;
(5)
To contact and/or inform the User about necessary matters to provide the Service and to implement the contract in accordance with the terms and conditions;
(6)
To plan and develop products and services, and to improve their quality;
(7)
To conduct market research and/or marketing analysis;
(8)
To distribute promotional/advertising information about the Company's products and services:

To carry out a survey of the User, and;
(10)
To respond to User inquiries.
4. Provision of The Personal Information of The Customer to a Third PartyThe Company may share the personal information of the User with the third parties as follows:
The items of jointly accessed personal data
The personal information specified in the 2(1) and (2) above
The range of joint user
The parent company and group
The purpose of joint user
The range from the above 3(1) to (10)
Unless otherwise specified by the Personal Information Protection Act or the Policy, the Company shall not transfer personal information to a third party without the User's consent.
In conjunction with the provision of the Service, the Company may occasionally commission to a third party personal information, whole or in part, received from the User or the Company's vehicle (including a service provider specified by the Policy). In this instance, the Company should enter into an appropriate entrustment agreement with the relevant agent while undertaking the required and sufficient supervision to ensure the safe management of the User's personal information in the relevant agent.
If the Company transfers the User's personal information to a country or region other than Japan, the Company will follow all reasonably required essential procedures for the transfer, such as obtaining the User's consent and executing a proper data transfer agreement, among other things.
